$200/hour — Navigating research topics or tough math problems, managing math anxiety, step-by-step help with a student's particular academic needs.
Frustration can make any student figuratively fold their arms and refuse to move. In working with me, students learn that in the struggle lies the prime opportunity for growth, and that this is how confidence is built in real time. Most students benefit from a 45-minute weekly lesson, where we explore current concepts according to California and Federal standards, a student’s upcoming assignments and assessments, and preparation for research projects.
$100/30-minutes—Getting the most out of your college experience, approaches to course selection and requirements, high school test-taking (classroom and standardized), executive function/organization coaching, navigating education choices.
In today’s hyper-productive world, connecting to one’s values, remaining grounded, and learning to organize, focus, and execute are all crucial. In learning how to command and maintain their sturdiness, environment, materials, and time, students’ confidence can grow exponentially and translate into content areas. Similarly, we parents may run into many daunting issues as we navigate and support our student’s education - communication struggles with teachers, confusing course choices, or how to encourage autonomy or good test-taking skills. 30-minute consulting sessions with students or parents are often helpful to strategize a plan of action.
$200/hour — Qualitative research guidance, high school/college application essay coaching, how to improve reading comprehension, creative writing techniques.
What makes a well-written paper, one written with a student’s own voice and a point of view? What to do when a student reads a paragraph and then has no idea what she just read? We work together in literacy sessions to demonstrate clarity in a student’s writing, to write from experience, and to engage the mind on multiple levels while reading. Independent high schools, universities, and AP exams can require a significant amount of writing, and the skill of clear and compelling writing is valuable beyond higher education.
